Bars and Date Spots:
New York, NY 10012
It’s a great spot to start the night off with a happy hour, given its proximity to a ton of other cool stuff, but you don’t have to leave this tavern to have an amazing time. It’s a great spot to meet people or just take down dope cocktails, like their Wren Old Fashioned (Old Overholt rye, Punt e Mes, cherry liqueur, orange bitters), and bar eats like bacon jam & ricotta toast or excellent beef jerky.
19th St. btw 5th and 6th Ave.
Russian bar/eatery it could be considered a place to go eat, but the drink selection brings it back into bar territory. They have Vodka specials where you can sample a whole bunch for a decent price, and they have plenty of beers as well, also decently priced. Crowd tends to be parties, people 30 and up, or actual Russians. A great spot to go with friends or to bring a date.
Broadway btw Bleeker and 3rd St.
Cocktail bar mixed with activities = here. Someone created a bar near NYU where business kids can go and play foosball, play shuffleboard, watch sports, crammed them into a tight bar area (there are seats but they’re usually taken), and slowly pass the time before they stumble back upstairs (it’s in the basement of the building) into the sunlight. The bar and wait staff are very friendly and well-adjusted to dealing with large crowds. They also serve a variety of beers on tap as well as plenty of specialty cocktails to quench any thirst and all at reasonable prices.
14th St. btw 2nd and 3rd Ave.
A “gastro pub” that is joining the ranks of other “gastro pubs” in this neck of the woods, though this might be the most crowded with younger people out of them all. The crowd ranges from fresh out of college to business kids, standing around for one of their great cocktails or a beer from one of their many taps. The staff is friendly, big space with seats in the back and a front bar area that has good turnover on stools but maintains the number of patrons. The Winslow is a for sure spot for a good time.

The Wayland, a live-music cocktail bar in the heart of Alphabet City. Connected to the bar is a kitchen that specializes in small plates, including cheese selections, oysters, and BLTs with pulled pork. The cocktails reflect a DIY approach, with hours of prep work just to produce homemade radish, spiced apple, and key lime-flavored bitters. The Wayland is a great spot to go out for drinks with friends and have a classy time
